GiiiA Network Third Community of Practice Session, February 23

The Gender–Based Indigenous Intersectional Impact Assessment (GiiiA) Network is hosting five Community of Practice (CoP) sessions in 2026, dedicated to advancing the implementation of culturally relevant Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus) in impact assessment.

Their third of five sessions will take place on February 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm ET on Zoom. This event will focus on the protection of Indigenous knowledge under the Impact Assessment Act (IAA), and will guide participants through legal obligations, community protocols, and practical approaches to upholding Indigenous rights and governance.

All sessions will be facilitated by the Firelight Group, an Indigenous-owned consultancy that provides research and technical support to Indigenous Nations and organizations across Turtle Island. The following optional readings are provided to prime your understanding prior to the third session:

To register for this event, please visit the Zoom registration page. Additionally, the GiiiA Network invites participants to join the new GiiiA Zotero Library, which features over 600 resources for culturally relevant GBA Plus in impact assessment. If you’d like to join, or have questions about the third CoP session, please contact giiiacoordinator@criaw-icref.ca.
