Creating Connections: The CFDC’s 30-Month Journey to Build a National Network
May 31, 2024 – This report was written by the Live Work Well Research Centre to provide an overview of the Canadian Feminist Disability Coalition’s (CFDC) 30-month journey from 2021 to 2024 and its relaunch as the Hummingbird Feminist Disability Coalition, led by the Disabled Women’s Network (DAWN) of Canada. The CFDC project aimed to build a network across Canada to connect women with disabilities nationwide. An Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Analysis of Core District of Kitimat Policies
March, 2023 – Dr. Leah Levac and colleagues and the District of Kitimat, guided by a resident advisory committee, undertook a collaborative, intersectional analysis of the District’s core policy documents. The goals included revealing how these core policy documents were contributing to the exclusion of some residents, making recommendations for advancing more equity-oriented policies moving forward, and informing local policy and planning processes with the knowledges of diverse and often-excluded residents. Shadow Report for United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Nov 29, 2022 – This report was written by the Live Work Well Research Centre, and specifically by Dr. Deborah Stienstra and Kaitlyn Pothier, in collaboration with the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC). The report draws on an extensive search of the academic and community research and literature and is guided by an advisory committee to address 17 key issues faced by Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQQIA people with disabilities. Striving for Equity, Inclusion, and Safer Spaces at Work: A Review of the Literature
Nov, 2022 – This report was one of several outputs emerging from a collaboration between Calian Ltd., the University of New Brunswick’s Muriel McQueen Centre for Family Violence Research, and the University of Guelph’s Live Work Well Research Centre. Specifically, it was part of a Mitacs Accelerate Project for Calian Ltd., to inform their efforts to ensure they are offering the most up-to-date, informed curriculum and training related to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices in workplaces. Domestic & International Good Practices to Integrate SGBA+ in Health Impact Assessment

COVID-19 Disability Inclusion Analysis
2021 – Conducted in partnership with the DisAbled Women’s Network of Canada (DAWN), this research helps us better understand how diverse people with disabilities in Canada have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of government COVID-19 measures on diverse people with disabilities in Canada. Report Series: Dangerous Disruptions
2021 – The Dangerous Disruptions Report Series highlights key findings and policy recommendations that emerged from a project aimed at better understanding the impacts of COVID-19 on the day-to-day lives of people living with poverty in small urban and rural communities. Intersectionality and the Experiences of Women with Disabilities
April, 2021 – Women with disabilities play a vital role in changing and challenging “dominant misconceptions in wider society” (page 8), but the report details the many barriers faced by women with disabilities. Transforming Disability Knowledge, Research and Activism (TDKRA)
April, 2020 – This project focuses on engaging women and girls with disabilities in three disadvantaged communities in Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue, and Can Tho of Vietnam in research to build local knowledge and develop activism in support of inclusion. More Promise than Practice: GBA+, Intersectionality and Impact Assessment
Mar 31, 2020 – Turning to international literature and examples, this project focused on better understanding and responding to the experiences of Indigenous women and Two-Spirit persons, youth, and people with disabilities in resource development and extraction contexts. Honouring Indigenous Women
2011 – The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) has created this toolkit as a resource to address the need to restore honour and respect for Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people.
