GiiiA Network Community Practice Session – November 26, 2025 

For the 2025-26 year, the Gender-Based Indigenous Intersectional Impact Assessment (GiiiA) Network has launched their Community of Practice (CoP), through which they will host six sessions focused on implementing culturally relevant Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus). These sessions will provide practical guidance, shared learning, and meaningful dialogue to strengthen members’ capacity to apply culturally relevant GBA Plus in ways that honour diverse cultural contexts and lived experiences.

On December 3, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, the Live Work Well Research Centre’s Reimagining Care research cluster will be hosting the next event in the THINC lab’s IF... Speaker Series, a panel discussion on Digital Methodologies of Care in Social Media Research. Taking place on the second floor of the University of Guelph’s Mclaughlin Library, in the THINC Lab, this interactive conversation will explore how to apply feminist ethics of care in social media research.

UofG OpenWay App Promotes New Campus Accessibility Features 

Last October, Dr. Hussein Abdullah, a professor in the University of Guelph’s Engineering program, shared the new app he and his team developed to open doors on our U of G campus with just one tap on your phone. Now, just over a year later, Abdullah and his team have returned to announce the installation of the OpenWay Smart Door Access System app in three locations on campus: 159 Albert A. Thornbrough North Door Entrance,142 Rozanski North Door Entrance, and 180 East Residence Dundas Main Entrance.

In 2020, a previous URA with the Live Work Well Research Centre, Shreya, used this blog space to write up a great list of Hidden (and not so Hidden) Gems on Campus for the University of Guelph. I’m returning five years later with even more recommendations, and to see how well her list stood the test of time. There’s something on this list for everybody—whether you need to study, take a nap, or grab a snack. As we move toward midterms, we hope you take a break from studying to explore these hidden gems.

New Research: The Challenges of (Re)Building Trust Post-COVID—People with disabilities and Canadian governments

On September 28, 2025, a research team from the Live Work Well Research Centre (LWWRC) presented their paper titled “The Challenges of (Re)Building Trust Post-COVID: People with Disabilities and Canadian Governments” at the 2025 Atlantic Provinces Political Studies Association conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
