Disabilities & Volunteering in Guelph-Wellington

Disabilities and Volunteering in Guelph-Wellington

Working with national and regional volunteer advocacy and support organizations, this project explores how we understand volunteering as a form of livelihood. It also examines barriers and facilitators to volunteering among people with disabilities. Findings of the research may help inform organizational policies and decisions about recruitment, training, and placement, and may help address barriers to volunteering for people with disabilities.

Key questions: How do people with disabilities experience and practice volunteering? Why do they volunteer? How does volunteering fit with other livelihoods? What are the relationships between volunteering and paid work?
