The Changing North: Policy and Program Responses to Change/ing Communities

Join the Political Science Department on Dec 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, for The Changing North: Policy and Program Responses to Change/ing Communities, a discussion to bring attention to some of the issues women face.

Resource extraction contributes to significant changes across Northern Canada, often disproportionately harming diverse northern and Indigenous women who are left out of public policy conversations on these issues. This conversation aims to shed light on how these women respond and integrate themselves into this conversation.

The impressive panel encompasses a set of diverse scholars, community researchers, and organizers:

  • Jacqueline Ramdatt, Research Associate, Equity and Inclusion Planning in Kitimat.
  • Alexandra (Alex) Bridges, Project Manager and Indigenous Lens GBA Plus Lead, Keepers of the Circle
  • Dr. Rebecca Hall, Assistant Professor, Department of Global Development Studies, Queen’s University
  • Moderator:

Dr. Leah Levac, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Critical Community Engagement in Public Policy, Department of Political Science, University of Guelph
