Collaborative Change Model for the Guelph & Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination
Guelph & Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination (PTF) is an organization that works collaboratively throughout the community to eliminate poverty. They are informed by diverse voices of experience, to take local action and advocate for system and policy change to address the root causes of poverty.
Recently, the PTF launched their Collaborative Change Model, a roadmap for measuring the impact of GWPTF on the community and their efforts to eliminate poverty. It’s a plan for how they will take action to reduce poverty moving forward. To create this roadmap, the PTF reached out to community partners, leaders, key players from diverse sectors and individuals with lived experience to understand how to meet the long-term housing, income, food, employment, transportation, and health needs of community members. This model is an important document for everyone in the area to become familiar with as it centers lived experiences and community voices.
Additionally, PTF is a community partner of the LWWRC. Our centres worked together on the Storied Lives: Shifting Perspectives on Poverty research project. This initiative used composite stories to highlight the lived experiences of people in poverty as well as the commentary of experts in the field of poverty reduction. The podcast shines a light on structural factors that shape poverty in Ontario and around the world.
