The Centre for Community-Based Research (CCBR) is an organization that conducts and promotes community-driven, participatory, and action-oriented research to advance equity and social innovation. They often engage in partnerships with other organizations to help co-design and conduct studies that mobilize the community, system, or organization. Additionally, they help shape funding proposals, co-lead projects, and turn insights into action.

Additionally, the CCBR allows organizations to build their capacity to lead community-based research through courses, certificate programs, customized trainings, coaching, and online resources. Their latest certificate program is the Certificate Program in Community-Based Research, which teaches participants how to use research to collaboratively drive change and build more responsive, supportive, and equitable communities. The program is composed of a series of mini-courses which participants can take individually or combine for Certificates of Completion (Basic & Advanced levels) in Community-Based Research and Evaluation.

Current students at participating university programs may be eligible for a partial course credit for enrolling in these courses, but clarification from an academic advisor is required. This certificate program exists in partnership with CCBR, the University of Waterloo, and UWaterloo’s Conrad Grebel University College.
