Don't Miss Out: Principles and Strategies for Community Engagement Course

In February 2025, the Centre for Community Based Research launched their Certificate Program in Community Based Research. This month they are offering their new Principles and Strategies for Community Engagement course, starting May 14.

Through an overview of core principles and effective strategies, students will learn about the opportunities and tensions of participation and community engagement in research. Students will be taught how to tailor their engagement strategies to each unique community they engage with. Over the duration of the course, instructors will also share how to build meaningful relationships in research, develop creative strategies for collaboration, and foster co-learning and empowerment.

This course will meet the following objectives:

  1. Explore equitable community engagement across all 4 phases of community-based research

  1. Encourage students to think deeply about how to meaningfully, equitably and feasibly engage communities in community-based research

  1. Learn about, adapt, and implement creative engagement strategies for dialogue, consultation, decision-making and discussion in students' own work

This course is ideal for students and professionals in non-profits, public health, and social services, especially because it’s online. Instructors Sarah Switzer and Rashmi Narkhede will offer five synchronous course sessions on Zoom, a total of 14 hours of learning, for $695.
