Keynote Speaker Event: Dr. Rheanna Robinson

At the University of Victoria on June 11, 2025, from 9:00-10:20am PDT, join the Provost’s Distinguished Women Scholars Lecture Committee in welcoming Dr. Rheanna Robinson for an engaging lecture! Attend by Zoom, or in-person at the University of Victoria David Turpin Building, to learn about how Indigenous knowledges can offer the world new and important representations of equity and inclusion in unique and varying ways.

Dr. Rheanna Robinson is an Indigenous (Métis) scholar and a member of the Manitoba Métis Federation. Her research is centred on Indigenous education and Indigenous disability studies, with a focus in community-based research. She currently holds a position as associate professor at the University of British Columbia, where she is also a graduate advisor for First Nations studies.

In her lecture, Rheanna will highlight the necessity of collaborating with those affected by university policy and practices as Canadian universities work towards increased Indigenization, decolonization, reconciliation, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion. Rheanna will draw on her experience as an Indigenous scholar that lives with disability and chronic illness to exemplify how Indigenous knowledges can offer the world new perspectives and representations of equity and inclusion.
