Announcing our Reimagining Livelihoods Multimedia Platform and Composite Stories!

The Live Work Well Research Centre is excited to announce that the Reimagining Livelihoods multimedia platform is now live, with each of our composite stories from the project published on the website!

The Reimagining Livelihoods project was guided and informed by an Advisory Committee, made up of interested individuals from the University of Guelph as well as civil society organizations such as DAWN Canada and the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW). In August 2023, the LWWRC hosted the Reimagining Livelihoods Forum to connect with community members, understand what ‘livelihoods’ means in diverse contexts, and what barriers are currently in place that prevent people from living well.

The following year, in summer of 2024, our creative team began developing the composite stories and the livelihoods.ca multimedia platform—where the stories are housed. Through valued creative and factual input from undergraduate students Vanessa Bonham, Jordyne Craig, and Mabel Mechery, and graduate students Mrittika Ghosh, Aurora Matteocci, and Kathryn Reinders, the stories and multimedia platform are now complete!

However, we offer additional opportunities for engagement in our Welcome post on the Reimagining Livelihoods website. We invite you to learn about the project, explore additional publications and resources in our knowledge sharing section, and even provide website and project commentary through our engaging feedback form!

We also encourge you to go meet Lily, Wren and Cyrus, and Evelyn! Visit the employment centre with Lily and hear about the challenges of securing employment after just graduating high school with cerebral palsy. Cook dumplings with Wren and discuss the complexity of ODSP and volunteering at their local cooking program. Carpool with Evelyn from work while she reviews her English lessons and chats about her son’s new karate class.

With these chapters of the project complete, our Centre is brainstorming new ways for you to engage with these characters and further livelihoods research!
