International Women’s Day Conference, March 8
In honour of International Women’s Day, the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI) at the University of Guelph is holding its 7th annual virtual conference!
The purpose of this year’s theme, “Refocus and Recenter," is to highlight and amplify the voices, expertise, and achievements of women, girls, and genderfluid communities in research and beyond, encouraging a re-evaluation of traditional methodologies and urging participants to explore how diverse perspectives reshape our understanding.
The keynote presentations include Nneka MacGregor (WomenatthecentrE & U of G Activist in Residence) and Layla Staats ( activist, musician, filmmaker, change artist) and student research presentations exploring topics such as:
-
the impact of minority women in science, technology, arts, politics, and social movements;
-
awareness about the intersectionality of feminism and womanism;
-
celebration of achievements within underrepresented and marginalized communities;
-
and calls to action to accelerate gender parity.
This conference, which focuses on researchers, practitioners, and participants from all backgrounds, will take place on Friday, March 8th, 2024, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm EDT.
