IDEA Speaker Series: Uncovering Episodic Disability—An Intersectional Perspective on Accommodation and Belonging

On Friday, January 31, 2025, at 12-1PM EST, Inclusive Design for Employment Access (IDEA) is hosting a Zoom webinar tackling the intersectionality of episodic disability.

Over 2 million individuals in Canada live with an episodic disability, whether it be long-COVID, arthritis, or even HIV. Despite the prevalence of these disabilities, not many people are aware of the term, and the unique challenges and insights of individuals with episodic disabilities are neglected in improving the cultures of workplaces and other environments.

The principles of IDEAL (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Leading to belonging) support the creation of spaces that foster universal belonging. These principles also provide a basis for employers and other leaders to respond to the diverse experiences of people living with chronic and episodic disabilities.

At this webinar, participants will listen to an informative presentation by Ingrid Palmer of Realize Canada about a recent community-based intersectional research project on barriers faced by people with episodic disabilities (2SLGBTQIA+, Muslims, youth, BIPOC, women, and seniors). Additionally, participants will learn the benefits of applying IDEAL principles in every environment.

Don’t miss out on this awesome chance to learn more about the diversity of accessibility and inclusion. French translations are also available! For more details and to register for the webinar, visit the IDEA speaker series registration page.
