Video available for Countering Policy Exclusions: Centring accessibility to advance the right to housing panel

The video has now been released for the LWWRC’s virtual panel on April 10th, 2025, co-hosted with Dr. Leah Levac’s Canada Research Chair in Critical Community Engagement and Public Policy. The panel on “Centring accessibility to advance the right to housing” was the second session in a series titled “Countering Policy Exclusions.” The video for the third session, held on May 12, will be available soon.

The panel was hosted by Deborah Stienstra and Leah Levac. The panelists included Mike Greer, a disability advocate who works toward more accessible homes, workplaces, and travel; Rosalind (Roz) Gunn, the Director of Communications and Advocacy at YWCA Cambridge; and Alex Nelson, a PhD candidate in Anthropology at Western University. The panelists discussed what is needed to ensure the right to housing for women and gender-diverse people with disabilities in Ontario, and addressed how women and gender-diverse people with disabilities are playing a leadership role in responding to housing failures.

The panel was recorded and captioned in English, and the video is available on YouTube.

In the description below the YouTube video, you can also access a summary of the event, the anonymized transcript of the Q&A, and the resources shared by the panelists.
