Shadow Report for United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Nov 29, 2022 - This report was written by the Live Work Well Research Centre, and specifically by Dr. Deborah Stienstra and Kaitlyn Pothier, in collaboration with the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC). The report draws on an extensive search of the academic and community research and literature and is guided by an advisory committee to address 17 key issues faced by Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQQIA people with disabilities. Striving for Equity, Inclusion, and Safer Spaces at Work: A Review of the Literature
Nov 2022 - This report was one of several outputs emerging from a collaboration between Calian Ltd., the University of New Brunswick’s Muriel McQueen Centre for Family Violence Research, and the University of Guelph’s Live Work Well Research Centre. Specifically, it was part of a Mitacs Accelerate Project for Calian Ltd., to inform their efforts to ensure they are offering the most up-to-date, informed curriculum and training related to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices in workplaces. COVID-19 Disability Inclusion Analysis
2021 - Conducted in partnership with the DisAbled Women’s Network of Canada (DAWN), this research helps us better understand how diverse people with disabilities in Canada have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of government COVID-19 measures on diverse people with disabilities in Canada. Intersectionality and the Experiences of Women with Disabilities
Women with disabilities play a vital role in changing and challenging "dominant misconceptions in wider society" (page 8), but the report details the many barriers faced by women with disabilities. Honouring Indigenous Women
The Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) has created this toolkit as a resource to address the need to restore honour and respect for Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people. Transforming Disability Knowledge, Research and Activism (TDKRA)
April 2020 - This project focuses on engaging women and girls with disabilities in three disadvantaged communities in Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue, and Can Tho of Vietnam in research to build local knowledge and develop activism in support of inclusion.
